SUMMARY:FREE TALK: Ayurveda Basics: What is Ayurveda? (ZOOM EVENT)
DESCRIPTION:Ayurveda embraces each person as an individual. Every person is born with a blueprint (constitution) for optimal health and wellness. It is our lifestyles that either keep the balance or allow it to fall out of balance\, creating illness and disease. Your personal constitution defines who you are. No two constitutions are exactly alike. \nSvastha is the Ayurvedic (Sanskrit) term for health and literally translates as “established in the self”. Imbalances feed disease and illnesses\, thus true health is not based on being physically disease free. Rather\, it is based on the interaction of the body\, mind\, spirit\, and senses\, infused with a lifelong sense of self or purpose\, balanced life\, and a vibrant spiritual connection. \n\n\nAyurveda reaches far beyond the area of physical health\, healing\, and the prevention of disease\, but can help each of us claim our authentic selves and align with our true nature. Through Ayurveda\, we create awareness of body\, mind\, and spirit to develop our strengths\, refine our needs\, surface our challenges\, redirect harmful tendencies\, and offer genuine support wherever it is needed so that we can find balance in stressful times. \nUpcoming Events: \n\nWednesday April 22nd 5:00-6:00PM: TO REGISTER\nSaturday April 25th 11:30AM-12:30PM: TO REGISTER\nSaturday May 9th 11:30AM-12:30PM: TO REGISTER

SUMMARY:FREE Talk: Intro to Sattva Behavioral Therapy: Psychological Immunity (ZOOM ONLY)
DESCRIPTION:Ayurvedic Behavioral (Vedic Behavioral Therapy) medicine is developed through an emphasis on sattva guna (contentment\, compassion\, connection\, peace) and its approach to imbalances in our lives through the use of Ayurvedic practices and Yogi’s system to encourage and support behavioral healing. The first steps start with changing our behaviors to preserve wellness\, and\, if disease is present\, reserve the process. This helps regain balance with practices in self-care\, proper nutrition\, stress management techniques\, community connections; and lifestyle\, physical\, mental\, emotional\, and spiritual wellness. \nDisease and unhappiness begin with a breakdown in our psychological immunity and inner composure. This is our ability to handle stress\, strain\, conflict\, and other difficult circumstances that are unavoidable around us. When were are disconnected from our psychological immunity\, it manifests in us as anger\, fear\, anxiety\, depression\, panic\, irritability\, and agitation\, among others. Because of this\, we are not the best version of ourselves. In turn\, we do not reflect the true meaning of sattva–which is peace. \nSelf-check: Questions to ask yourself about your psychological immunity \n\nWhat kinds of events have been most stressful for me?\nHow do they typically affect me?\nWho do I reach out to in traumatic and stressful experiences?\nDo I have the tools to cope\, process\, and evolve when I am distressed?\nDo I have people and resources in my life that are there when I am distressed?\nDo I find myself guiding others? Or do I try to fix them?\nHave I been able to overcome obstacles in my life? If so\, how?\nWhat has helped to gain perspective and move forward even when I feel that life continues to bring challenges?\n\nHow we deal with difficult events and changes in our lives will either manifest into pain and suffering or will push us to evolve and emerge into our authentic selves. This ability to grow from challenges is resistance\, a process of adapting in the face of adversity\, trauma\, tragedy\, or other significant sources of stress. It is also known as the ability to “rebound” or “bounce back” from life’s challenges. Research shows that psychological resilience is ordinary and not extraordinary. Resilience is not a trait that people do or don’t have\, but is instead a product of behavior\, thought\, and action. This can and should be learned and developed as a part of optimal development. \nThe primary factors of resilience: \n\nhave caring supporting relationships\nhave realistic plans and goals and take steps to carry them out\nbuild character through confidence in your strengths and abilities\nskills in communication and problem-solving\nability to manage strong feelings\nstrategies for building resilience\n\nTogether\, we will gain wisdom and clarity\, create community\, develop the tools to build resilience. Behavioral therapy is an ever-evolving and ongoing process that requires time and effort. It involves taking necessary steps to improve our overall perspectives of life and build the support and practice to live a life of optimal wellness. \nTools that you will learn and receive in Vedic Behavioral Therapy: \n\nAyurveda and yoga\, yoga therapy\, meditation\nsatsanga\, spirituality\, support groups\nemotional and physical detoxification\nexercise\, sleep\, nutrition\, sleep\nrelaxation\, mindfulness\, meditation\nto attain – the natural qualities of lightness\, clarity\, balance\, harmony\, peace\, and companions of self and the world around you\n\nThis is the into to The Sattva Therapy Program. \n\nApril 22nd: TO REGISTER\nMay 7th: 11:00AM-12:00PM: TO REGISTER
