On Fridays, we will focus on a challenge and something we are grateful for during the week, giving each thought. And then make a face that expresses an emotion that you have about your overall week!
When a gratitude practice is consistent, we are open to see life differently—our perception of our struggles, connections with others, and our responses to life changes.
Throughout the week, the practices build a foundation to help us understand our past, connect with our present, and manifest our future. In turn, we will become more aware of our surroundings and have the tools to process challenging situations.
When we put a little time and effort into the weekly practices, it will lead to a happier and healthier existence. What can it hurt to give it a try? Have fun with the face! I know I will.
Building a Foundation
#1 Give Yourself a Little Thanks
Most of us wouldn’t think twice about saying thank you to somebody else. But what about thanking our self? Does this seem odd or strange? How often do we offer ourselves gratitude for what we accomplished?
Here’s a simple practice to give thanks for what we do to keep life rolling!
Please take a moment to think of the things that are done daily and a necessary part of life. We might not particularly enjoy them, the mundane activities that we do. Consider the time and effort that goes into completing these tasks.
Now place your right hand on your heart center and left hand over your right hand. Direct your energy inward and say to yourself:
- Thank you, body, for doing what I need to continue throughout my day.
- Thank you, mind, for navigating tasks that need to be thought through.
- Thank you, emotions, for containing your composure to the best of your ability.
- Thank you, self, for all of the things that you accomplished today.
- Sit with your words and your breath for a few moments.
