108 Sun Salutations with Kamie

Join us for 108 Sun Salutations!

The significance of 108, renowned mathematicians of Vedic culture viewed 108 as a number of the wholeness of existence and according to yogic tradition, there are 108 piths, or sacred sites, throughout India. There are also 108 Upanishads and 108 karma points, or sacred places of the body. Traditionally, malas are used for counting as you repeat a mantra or a prayer, much like the Catholic rosary. This number also connects the Sun, Moon, and Earth: The average distance of the Sun and the Moon to Earth is 108 times their respective diameters.

Join us for this energizing but meditative practice. We will begin class with a meditation and intention for our practice and then flow through 108 Sun Salutation and end with savasana. All are invited to practice, basic knowledge of the sun salutations is recommend but doing all 108 is not required. If you find that you can do 10, 50 or 108 you may still participate in this meditative practice. Join us for tea and social after our practice together in our new Soul studio!
