Pose Breakdown: Standing Poses with Kamie (Soul Studio – Anoka)

Anatomy & Physiology of Yoga provides us, students of yoga, with the knowledge and skills necessary to understand of how our body works while practicing poses (asanas – static postures), flow through poses (vinyasas – dynamic exercises) and breath work (pranayamas – breathing exercises) of Hatha yoga.

  • January 30thWarm-up Poses: Go through the reason we warm up our bodies the way we do each class. 
  • February 4th – Anatomy and Physiology of Yoga
  • February 13thStanding Poses: Learn about how to practice safe alignment for your body, how to modify standing poses when needed, and when it is safe to go deeper into the pose. 
  • February 27thBackbends/Forward Folds/Lateral bends: Learn the importance of proper alignment of muscles used to bend forwards, backwards, and side to side. 
  • March 3rd – Meditation and Pranayama
  • March 12thHip Openers and Twists: Hip openers can bring emotions while twisting can be challenging, let Kamie show you how to do work through these poses with ease.
  • March 26thStabilization and Balancing Poses: Our core is one of the most important parts in our body, learn how to create a strong core while gaining confidence in balancing poses. 
  • April 7th – Chakras
  • April 9thInversions/Restoration: Learn how to do inversions safely and then learn how to completely let your body relax in savasana. 
  • April 23rd – Make-up day.
